Intro

A 4 hour fire rated panel designed to fit into any type of 4 hour fire rated wall system, allowing easy access into the cavity/void where regular maintenance to services is required to be carried out.

Description

A picture frame surround is provided, which enables the panel to be inserted directly into a pre-cut hole, and is screw fixed into position through the side of the panel frame. This is a 4 Hour fire rated access panel which has been tested in accordance with EN 1634-1.

Construction

Constructed from 1.2mm and 1.5mm thick Zintec Steel, with a polyester powder coating of matt white Ral 9010, 20% Gloss (other colours available upon request). The removable metal door is filled with 50mm thick Superwool 607 thermal insulation, and is sealed at the rear with 12.5mm thick Lafarge Megadeco Board and a protective zintec steel backing plate. A single layer intumescent strip sat side by side with a later of smoke seal is provided between the panel door and frame. The door is fixed to the frame using a continuous metal hinge which is bolted to the panel frame, and is locked into position with a three point locking system.

Fitting

The access panel should be screw fixed through the side of the panel frame, and will require independent bracing and support which is sufficient to secure and also allow safe opening of the access panel within the wall system. When installing the access panel, the actual size of structural opening in the wall needs to be at least +10mm greater than the overall panel dimension e.g. structural opening for 600 x 600mm will be 610 x 610mm.
