Intro

This ceramic wall access panel is designed for use in 2 hour fire rated walls to be finished with ceramic or marble tiles.

Description

After tiling, the door frame and edges are fully concealed and the gap around the door will match the required grout width. The gap should be filled with a fire proof mastic sealant which can be cut through using a stanley knife when the door is in use. This is a 2 Hour Fire Rated Access Panel which has been tested to B.S.476: Part 22:1987.

Construction

The panel is constructed from 1.5mm thick Zintec Steel, and the door tray is lined with 12.5mm thick moisture board. The panel door and frame are polyester powder coated in matt white Ral 9010, 20% gloss. The panels are also available in Stainless Steel for use in areas of high humidity (quote using product code and ref SS). A unique hinge pin detail allows maximum access for maintenance to be carried out, whilst at the same time eliminating any contact between tile edges when opening. The quick release hinge allows the door to be fully removed when required. For access panels greater in size than 600mm x 600mm , a rolling ball system is fitted to the base of the door near to the hinge pin; this allows the door to open and close smoothly without straining the hinge pin. The door is secured with a three point locking system. This panel will accommodate tiles up to a thickness of 10mm. For greater tile thicknesses please contact our Technical Department

Fitting

It should be noted that the access panel will require independent bracing and support which is sufficient to secure and also allow the safe opening of the access panel within the wall system. The frame is designed to be screw fixed to the wall system/bracing prior to tiling. It is imperative that the tiles fixed to the door tray are flush with the edge of the door; as any protrusion will foul the opening sequence of the door, and may result in tile damage.
